Ranthambhore National Park

Rajasthan state is famous for its colorful culture, forts, garhis and desert. It is in this state that we find one of the most famous and best tiger reserve of Western India – Ranthambhore national park and tiger reserve. Spread over 392 Sq Km, Ranthambhore is situated in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan.

Declared a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1955, it was taken under gambit of Project Tiger in 1973. Ranthambhore forests are famous for Tigers and fort. It is said to be one of the oldest forts in western India. A perfect mix of dry deciduous forest and grass meadows it has 539 species of flowering plants. It is in these forests that Sh. Fateh Singh ji Rathore has done well known researches on tigers and its life. Ganesh temple, Ranthambhore fort, Padam Taloa (Lake) and Banyan tree near it are famous landmark of these forests.

Ranthambhore forests are famous for spotting tigers but has so many other mammals and birds to see that even a 3 – 4 days trip is small to cover it fully. Caracal, Leopard, Sambhar deer, Barking deer, Spotted deer, etc. are few animals we can see here along with the big cat.
