Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary

Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary is situated in between Mandsaur and Nimach districts of Madhya Pradesh with western part in Nimach and Eastern in Mandsaur adjoining Rajasthan state. With dry, mixed and deciduous forest, plains and good water body due to Gandhi sagar dam built here it is an excellent habitat for wildlife especially birds.

PRINCIPAL FAUNA

Leopard , Sloth Bear, Blue Bull, Chinkara , Wild Boar, Wild dog, Fox, Wild Cat, Jackal and others. It has a very good bird life and many migratory birds visit the area.

PRINCIPAL FLORA

Salai, Dhawada, Khair, Moyan, Palas, Tendu, Saja, Ber, Mahua, Khardhai, etc.

BEST SEASON:

December to late January and April to mid-June are best time to visit Gandhi Sagar sanctuary.

There are many tourist spots inside and near the sanctuary including ancient temple of 'Chaturbhuj Nath, ancient Rock Painting in the Nullah (stream)of the sanctuary,  Hinglajgarh Fort , The river Chambal and the Gandhi Sagar dam.

RELIGIOUS TOURIST SPOTS, FAIR PLACES, ANCIENT TEMPLES

Every year a fair is organized in Chaturbhuj nath temple which is visited by people near and far, in which multitudes of people gather. Many idols and articles of historic importance are safely placed on the 'Bhanupura Chhatri', may also be seen here.
